The Holton-Arms Athletic Association (HAA) is a community that brings together and honors high-achieving student-athletes. Over the course of athletics in Upper School, student-athletes gain points based on their varsity or junior varsity experience. A certain number of points leads to acceptance.
HAA upholds the school mission, spirit and core values. As one of the oldest clubs, the association has gained hundreds of members over the years and established a life- long connection for students with Holton-Arms Athletics.
Athletic Director Graham Westerberg stated, “[HAA’s] role is to uplift our athletes, strengthen our traditions and reinforce the athletic values that define Holton.”
HAA motivates students both on and off the field.
Over the years, HAA developed many different traditions, including the HAA cap and the induction song. An induction of a new member includes a blue and white colored cap for the recipient, who must wear the cap during Holton events for two weeks. Similarly, current HAA members recite a poem and sing to the new members during initiation.
New HAA member Lauren Hemann ’27 commented on her favorite HAA ritual by saying, “I like the tradition of collecting coins in a sock. It's been around since the beginning of the club and is very unique! This tradition also helps the community as all the money goes to a good cause.”
The new HAA inductees this fall are Nandita Bangalore ’27, Helen Binner ’26, Eliza Clessuras ’26, Merritt Feldner ’27, Sophia Fletcher ’27, Delaney Freedman ’26, Charlotte Fritz ’26, Talia Green ’27, Hemann, Maddy Kavounas ’26, Julia Rudick ’26, Charlotte Taylor ’27 and Caroline Watkins ’26.
