How Did Holton Celebrate its 125th Birthday?

One hundred and twenty-five years ago, Holton opened its door with a mission that continues to shape its community today. Founded in February 1901, the school has spent more than a century empowering young women, and this year marks a major milestone in that journey. Although Holton’s birthday traditionally falls on February 14, the community came together on February 11 to celebrate 125 years of history, growth and impact.

The celebration began the moment families arrived at school. During morning carpool, students and parents greeted drivers with music and school spirit, creating an energetic start to the day. According to Assistant Head of Upper School Kate Mitchell, past celebrations have featured “a DJ in the dining room, tables set up with gifts and photo opportunities and an overall sense that everyone is truly enjoying themselves.” This year’s festivities once again included a DJ and a special birthday lunch.

Happy Birthday, Holton is more than just a celebration; it is also a 24-hour Day of Giving. Parents, alumni, grandparents, faculty, staff and friends supported the Holton Fund and helped ensure the school’s mission continues for generations to come. The day also featured a Blue and White competition and a parent participation challenge, which offered a fun and meaningful way to show Panther pride. To amplify every contribution, each new gift up to $50,000 was matched.
