Everyone enjoys a break from the stress and hustle of everyday life; however, students’ opinions differ regarding which break is truly the best.
Although spring break includes warm weather and Thanksgiving break means good food and cozy fall days, winter break remains undoubtedly the best!
The two weeks last twice as long as spring break and Thanksgiving break. The extended vacation gives students twice as long to relax, travel, watch their favorite show or hang out with friends and family.
While many students associate spring break with sunshine and warm weather, winter break has its own kind of magic. Personally, I love winter weather, but for those who appreciate warm climates, there are plenty of places to go to find them.
One of my favorite parts about winter break, though, is the possibility of snow! Although only selec-
tive areas of the world see snowfall every year, when I visit my grandparents and cousins in the Mid-Atlantic, there is always the promise of snow, whether it be two inches or over a foot.
The snow gives me a chance to participate in one of my favorite sports: skiing. The ample amount of time provides a rare opportunity to have fun in the snow.
Above all, winter break signals the peak of the holiday season. Whether you celebrate a holiday in late December or not, lingering in the air is some holiday spirit, ampli- fied by the approach of New Year’s at the end of break.
For me, Christmas is the highlight. Nothing beats spending time with my family and cousins, watching Christmas movies on repeat or baking cookies. Christmas offers me a genuinely comforting feeling that remains unmatched.
That sense of warmth, paired with snowy mornings and cozy movie nights under a blanket, makes winter break stand out as the best break of the school year.
